TR-2 as Coach and Pc: Section 1

Page 2 of 4: Drill 1

Place a real doll or teddy bear or something in front of you to be a terminal you can say things to. Don't just talk out into open space and imagine someone or something there.

  1. Now you will play the part of the coach.

  2. This is Drill 1.

  3. Say aloud "TR2. Start!"

  4. Then imagine the doll doing something it shouldn't be doing, and say in a somewhat natural way, "Stop this moment, I tell you!"

  5. Click on Drill 1. You will hear a good acknowedgement, "OK!"

  6. Give the student a coaching grade aloud, by saying "Good". Also enter your coaching grade into the computer, by clicking on the link, "Student showed he got it, and ended the comm cycle--Good". Note your coaching action was graded "Correct", and close out the window. Remember to both say "Good" aloud, and also click the link.

  7. Now you are deliberately going to coach this drill wrongly. As before, imagine the doll doing something it shouldn't be doing, and say in a somewhat natural way, "Stop this moment, I tell you!"

  8. Click on Drill 1. You will hear the same good acknowledgement, "OK!"

  9. This time, pretend that in your opinion the student had made a mistake, and his acknowledgement did not end the comm cycle. Say aloud your coaching remark, "Flunk! Didn't end the comm cycle. Start!" and also enter your coaching grade into the computer by clicking the link, "Student didn't get it/end comm cycle--Flunk". Note the coaching action being graded "Incorrect", and then close out the movie/window.

  10. Repeat these steps until you're comfortable with this procedure.
