Have a real doll or teddy bear or something in front of you to be a terminal you can say things to. Don't just talk out into open space and imagine someone or something there.
- Now repeat the steps of the earlier drills, but deliberately coach wrongly. So in Drill 1, say aloud, "Flunk! That wasn't a half-ack. Start!"
- Enter your grading of the student's performance in the computer by clicking the link, "Student gave ack that ended cycle--Flunk". Note your coaching action receives an "Incorrect" mark.
- Similarly, coach wrongly on Drills 2 and 3, entering your coaching comments into the computer each time and being graded as a coach each time.
- Finally, go through Drills 1-3 again, coaching correctly this time.
- Repeat these steps until you're comfortable with this procedure.
- End off the drilling for now by saying aloud, "That's it".
